I'm pretty sure this happens because Pierre is using Eudora to post this, and Eudora uses "format=flowed". This is (IMO) a very convenient feature that will wrap messages as intended on mail clients that understand it, without affecting mail clients that don't. However, even though it doesn't affect a human reader, it _does_ affect a computer reader, such as patch. Just re-send your patch as an attachment, and you should be fine.
