1. i did a full install of the cygwin package in C:\cygwin folder and
the system seems to work fine, but with one small glitch. when i click
on the cygwin icon in the cygwin folder, the system doesn't seem to know
that
it's supposed to invoke the cytwin.bat file in the same folder. the file
with
the cygwin icon is of type .ico, and when i configure windows 2000 to
invoke cygwin.bat, the effect is to change ,ico files be of the same type as
.bat
files, which is obviously undesirable. i've adjusted to this problem by
invoking cygwin from the desktop cygwin icon, or by using the .bat icon
in the cygwin folder. any other suggestions on how i can reset the system
so that using the cygwin icon invokes the software? note: the cygwin icon
that the system installed on the desktop works properly.

2. i prefer using the .csh shell family. i've notiiced that the cygwin
package includes the .tcsh shell, but invoking cygwin automatically brings
up
the.bash shell. how may the .tcsh shell be invoked from windows? is it
necessary to create a new cygwin.bat file or modify the old one?

note: <gulp> i'm a windows newbie in addition to being a cygwin newbie.

thanx in advance for any and all help.
