You don't have to worry about it.  Since the rule is to discuss this
kind of thing on the mailing list, you just post a query to the mailing
list.

The alternative is for 27 people to send email to a maintainer asking
when the next version was coming out, as opposed to 26 sending the email
to the list with one person realizing that the question had already
been asked.

The savings are obvious...
