I just upgraded to 1.3.4 (I was already using 2.9.9p2), and ssh
connections to sshd hosts using protocol 1.5 hang at the beginning of
the interactive session, just before the remote post-login output is
displayed.

CTRL-C allows the connection to proceed normally.

I have confirmed this with two 1.5 hosts (same hang) and two 1.99
hosts (no hang).

Intriguingly, if I use strace I don't get a connection at all.

Happy to help debug under instruction.
