Thanks for answering, at first, Ronald.

When I run bash shell I get the same error:

C:\WINNT\system32>bash
      0 [main] bash 936 init_cygheap::etc_changed: Can't open /etc for 
checking,
 Win32 error 50
bash-2.05$

So I think it's a Cygwin configuration problem. I'll test \etc files.
