I am having trouble with the display of special characters with ncurses.

I assume that this is o.k.:

$ set  |  grep TERM
TERM=cygwin

tput won't initialise this terminal:

$ tput init
tput: unknown terminfo capability 'init'

and the line drawing characters are wrong, e.g. with the demo programs in
/bin/ncurses-test-dll. A '3' appears instead of a vertical line, etc.

These problems are the same on two machines, one running NT, the other
Windows 98. Changing TERM to ansi-nt gives the correct ascii approximation
to the line drawing characters (but not what I want) and messes up the
arrow keys, etc.

Is this normal? Or can someone suggest what I am doing wrong.

Thanks,
Bill
