I have installed ash 20010827-1.

I have configured no special mounts - I just installed Cygwin and
include "C:\cygwin\bin" in my PATH settings.

Here is the output of 'mount' - which indicates that binmode is
obviously used by default:
-------------------------------
bash-2.05$ mount
C:\cygwin\bin on /usr/bin type system (binmode)
C:\cygwin\lib on /usr/lib type system (binmode)
C:\cygwin on / type system (binmode)
c: on /cygdrive/c type user (binmode,noumount)
-------------------------------

I also just tried the recently release bash-2.0.5-8 - and this behavior
persists.
