Not really a relevant question for the cygwin list. Suggest automake AT gnu DOT org and autoconf AT gnu DOT org as more appropriate lists. However, here are some starting points: http://sources.redhat.com/autobook -- online version of the "goatbook" excellent intro to autoconf, automake, libtool, etc. plus good discussion of portability issues in c, c++ and shell scripts. http://sources.redhat.com/ml/autoconf/ - autoconf mailing list archives http://sources.redhat.com/ml/automake/ - same for automake --- David Carter david AT carter DOT net -----Original Message----- From: cygwin-owner AT sources DOT redhat DOT com [mailto:cygwin-owner AT sources DOT redhat DOT com] On Behalf Of PsychoSphere2K Sent: Monday, August 20, 2001 8:12 PM To: cygwin AT cygwin DOT com Subject: Help a beginner! Hi! I'm only a beginner with GNU tools and i need some help... How do I go about creating the most portable application possible? I intend to use C. I have no experience with autoconf/m4, automake. Are they worth using? (Non-unix hosts?) How about libraries and headers? Any help will be appreciated... -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Bug reporting: http://cygwin.com/bugs.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/ -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Bug reporting: http://cygwin.com/bugs.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/
