Ack... ok, I must have changed something to doing the right thing since the
last time I tried ps -e, I see what I need to see now ;)  Thanks, that answers
one problem.  I am trying to see what I can come up with as far as modifying
how cygwin handles the /etc/passwd file, as per Corinna's suggestion...

Yes a patch will be forthcoming, if it works ;)
