make it a function in your .bashrc and remove the !*
function newls ()
{
ls -lrt | tail -7
}

I can't figure out how to convert the following cshrc alias to work with
bash:
asic1-bstn:~>alias new='ls -lrt !* | tail -20'
asic1-bstn:~>new
!*: No such file or directory
My original CSH alias looked like:
alias new='ls -lrt \!* | tail -20'
but that doesn't work either.
Please help, I would be grateful.
