Take a look at the URL http://www.qnx.com - the serious Unix like OS 
that could overtake Linux in embedded systems. They have an article that 
compares them with Linux.

I installed it in one of my computer and I am totally impressed. I got 
Citrix ICA client installed with it so that I can login to the LAN in
my office to run Windows.
