Subject: | cvs via Cygwin (W98) to FAT to Linux - permissions |

I have a system with a wireless NIC that has not Linux support, so I want to use cvs from Cygwin on Windows 98 to get files to the FAT volume, then reboot to Linux and copy the files. I only need to deal with check-out, not check-in It would be nice if there were some way to keep track of the file permissions in this process. Of course, UMSDOS support under Cygwin would take care of everything in both directions, but I'm thinking that's a very big hammer for a very small problem, and I doubt anyone is chomping at the bit to implement UMSDOS under Cygwin. My idea is to add an option to cvs that creates a script during check-out that can be used to rebuild the permissions after I copy the files to a Linux volume. I guess check-in could be handled too if another option were added to cvs to read and apply the permissions defined in the script during check-in assuming that the script contains only chmod commands and comments. -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Bug reporting: http://cygwin.com/bugs.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/
