The man page doesn't describe how to "use" vi. However, if you enter "vi" without specifying a file, you'll notice the "help" option. If you peruse that, you'll find the section titled "Special keys in Insert mode". The first item described there is what you're looking for. -----Original Message----- From: Bob Zimmerman [mailto:bobzim AT metaworld DOT com] Sent: Tuesday, June 26, 2001 9:31 AM To: cygwin AT cygwin DOT com Subject: vi under cygwin I am trying to figure out how to enter control codes into VI under cygwin (win98). For example, I want a control M or control P to be entered as a single "character" - I know it will appear as 2 chars (^M), but how do I actually enter it as a single one? Thanks. -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Bug reporting: http://cygwin.com/bugs.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/ -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Bug reporting: http://cygwin.com/bugs.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/
