ln /bin/gcc.exe /bin/cc.exe
Other words, create a link from the gcc compiler to the cc.
I did. Had to do this for gcc 3.0. The sources call for cc when making one
of the archives.

I couldn't find ispell anywhere on cygwin - so I downloaded one
from a gnu site. When I try to make it - it keeps looking for "cc"
instead of gcc ...

Any suggesitons on how to get ispell working under cygwin? Thanks.
