Hello,
thanks for the quick answer.
Since there have not yet been any direct answers, I'd like to 
repeat my message: The returned string from tgetent() is too long for
the terminals linux and cygwin. Should be <=1024 characters, but is
somewhat larger.

PS.: According to the ChangeLog,  Christopher Faylor seems to maintain
the termcap branch.
