Subject: tar cygwin on Win2k unable to recognize tar Unix

Does anyone know how to get the cygwin tar command on Win2k to recognize
tapes made on a UNIX workstation using the UNIX tar command? tar
commands in cygwin on a tape made on UNIX yield the following message:

tar: /dev/nt0: Cannot read: Permission denied
tar: At beginning of tape, quitting now
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

thanks,
stephen
