Is there any reason that you're not using the latest and greatest? -ME -----Original Message----- From: cygwin-owner AT sources DOT redhat DOT com [mailto:cygwin-owner AT sources DOT redhat DOT com] On Behalf Of Robert Leurck Sent: Thursday, June 14, 2001 5:07 PM To: cygwin AT cygwin DOT com Subject: sshd password authentication failure on windows 2000 advanced server openssh-2.3.0p1-1 cygwin-1.1.5-7 generated ssh keys in /etc using ssh-keygen -t rsa1 -f ssh_host_key -N "" ssh-keygen -t rsa -f ssh_host_rsa_key -N "" ssh-keygen -t dsa -f ssh_host_dsa_key -N "" generated passwd file using mkpasswd -l generated group file using mkgroup -l sshd -d starts up ssh client receives password authentication fails. This only occurs in windows 2000 advanced server. I performed a standard cygwin install (setup) and the above for windows 2000 server and workstation and NT server (service pack 6) and windows 2000 advanced server. Only the advanced server fails. If any reader has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. My objective is to use secure file transfer (scp) and remote administration (ssh tunnelled vnc).
