I thing it is a good idea, but I suggest a little change like this:
Add 3/4 lines to the ~/.emacs :
;;uncomment the next 2 lines if you want NTemacs to recognize your
;;Cygwin paths (in `find-file' and other file functions).
;; (require 'cygwin-mount)
;; (cygwin-mount-activate)
Under NT/W2K there is also the problem of which user to add this
(The installation may be under Administrator while the Emacs is
run under a normal user(s) name).
