This version doesn't work with network shares.

$ cd //myserver/myshare/mydir
$ pwd
//myserver/myshare/mydir      <- Ok
$ cd ..
$ pwd
//myserver/myshare/mydir/..   <- not as expected
$ /bin/pwd
//myserver/myshare            <- expected output
