Subject: | RE: permission denied when invoking gcc |
thanks to John Benninghoff for "I'm going to try changing the ntsec setting on the CYGWIN environment variable. I did an strace on a simple gcc compile and I see the module and line of code that is causing the problem. Its in fhandler_base::open which is part of cpp0. It's triggered by a Windows Error 5 which is set equal to errno 13." this "workaround" ( unsetting CYGWIN ) "resolves" the issue for the problem listed below. If anyone knows how to resolve the issue with CYGWIN=ntsec, please adivse. thanks reid > -----Original Message----- > From: Reid Thompson [mailto:RThompso AT ateb DOT com] > Sent: Tuesday, March 27, 2001 10:30 AM > To: cygwin AT cygwin DOT com > Subject: permission denied when invoking gcc > > have lost the ability to compile for some reason :) --- error listing is: > WS014_NT500:/home/rthompso>gcc kb.c > cpp.exe: /tmp/ccfWXIbV.i: Permission denied > > the only intentional changes that i have made recently are downloading the > newest and setting up mutt to be functional ( although mutt now seems to > be having the same type error as gcc ) --- > > any suggestions as to what may be my problem? > is it necessary to have an /etc/groups ? > > thanks > reid -- Want to unsubscribe from this list?
