* 2001-02-27 Keith Amidon <camalot AT picnicpark DOT org> list.cygwin * Message-Id: <861ysjogew DOT fsf AT camalot DOT picnicpark DOT org> | I'm trying to use the cygwin openssh port within NT Emacs (the port | available at http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/windows/ntemacs.html) | using the ssh.el and tramp packages. I have OpenSSH setup (version | 2.3.0p1) and operating fine in a cygwin bash prompt window. ...after ssh-agent and ssh connection in Emacs/bash | And then a blinking cursor. I can type commands, and they are executed | on the server, I get output, etc. However, I do *not* get a command | prompt. This makes using the remote window somewhat | difficult. Furthermore, because the tramp package depends on finding | prompts for its operations, it doesn't work either. I'm afraid you can't get it work. The same problem is with almost all interactive commands that come with Cygwin (telnet...). Something changed in Cygwin after B20.x so that NT Emacs is no longer able to deal with subprocesses well. A well known and very irrating is the inability to send signals to bash shell. NT Emacs is almost pure Windows application, it cannot be compiled with Cygwin, so I suggest you move to Win32 XEmacs. ._Official:_ ftp://ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/binary-kits/win32/ ._Win32Faq:_ http://jagor.srce.hr/~hniksic/xemacs-on-windows-faq.txt .http://www.xemacs.org/faq/xemacs-faq.html#Q1_0_10 .ftp://ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/beta/ ._Hyperarchive_: http://www.xemacs.org/list-archives/xemacs-nt/ ftp://ftp.ese-metz.fr/pub/xemacs/win32/ by Fabrice Popineau ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/binary-kits/win32/ http://users.ev1.net/~toland xemacs-21.1.9-i586-pc-win32.exe Jari -- Want to unsubscribe from this list?
