As a reasonably seasoned programmer on both, I find the Cygwin developers' (of which I am not one) success in inveigling windows rather impressive. (Not to mention their patience on the mailing lists, which I personally find remarkably impressive.) And if that is not enough, consider the following quote (source unknown): "You can't let people get away with shoddy service. It starts with overcooked meat and ends with Microsoft." E.
