List:

I've been trying to replicate the failure again, and it stubbornly
refuses.

I know it died for me several times after changing the mount points and
rebooting as was originally suggested.

Eventually, it got to the first config.cache write before dying, so a
couple more failures it finally ran to completion.

Unfortunatly, it hasn't failed since. Nor did it ever fail for me on my
Win95 machine, despite having the mount points botched (since fixed).

FWIW, the package (mutt) worked perfectly right out of the box.

Call it a Stupid Windows Thing (tm).
