Have you looked at the source code for 'realpath()' and 
'cygwin_conv_to_full_win32_path()'.  They are almost identical, i.e.,
both should translate symbolic links.

And, guess what?  I actually tried cygpath just to verify what it does.
It does translate symolic links.
