I know that Jason scored with his question of a non-Cygwin cvs but I want to
clear this point up for the purposes of the archives.

The /bin/sh distributed with Cygwin is a modified version of ash and comes
distributed in the ash-*.tar.gz file. Bash isn't used as sh because it is
heavier and costs more in execution speed. As distributed /bin/sh isn't user
friendly as an interactive shell, it has been stripped of user interface glut
and is meant to be used as the batch shell.

Cheers,
