Ok, I seem to have found an easy solution for this.

Looking at my Cygwin.bat, I found that it does nothing, except cd to the right
dir, and launch bash with some parameters. Simply replacing the shortcut to the
.bat file with a shortcut directly to the bash.exe file makes the problem go away
:-)

Older generations of the bat file seemed to do a whole bunch of stuff, but that
appears to be handled by /etc/profile now, so why is the bat file needed ?
