I cancelled my previous ISP account largely "on account" of their refusal to facilitate communicating with organizations using ORBS. That appears to be intended largely as a measure to discourage their subscribers from using their servers, the only justification offered being that supposedly a majority of the customers care only about web access, so why spend resources on the minority. I suppose it doesn't occur to them that they may be able to keep a significant number of their customers satisfied with less expenditure of resources by facilitating e-mail and newsgroups.
