Aww man! I'm very happy to see this.  I've always want this capability
on a windows/dos pc.  Thanks cygwin guys!  I guess seeing that
familiar DOS window just made me think ok, the is dos, single process
command shell interface.

so for the guy I was responding to, read up a bit on the basics of unix
shell commands and process commands. This may be helpful
to you and for the stdin stuff...make sure you're arguments to the
program you're running are correct.  Try typing the appname with
--help argument alone to see some info on the command line args.
