Hello

I have downloaded the lastest version of cygwin full.exe and I have
installed it on my system.
I have a Dell Dimension R400 PII with 128Mb RAM
My operating system is Windows 98.

The problem I have is that :

I cannot view any files under BASH using standard unix utilities such
as "vi" and "more". Is there something in the distribution I can use ?
I cannot use the Windows editors to create setup files such as .bashrc
and .profile

I cannot use the '|' operator for piping output. When I try to type this
character nothing appears on the screen. Is this not supported or do I
have to configure something as this was not mentioned during the setup ?

I cannot use the up/down arrow keys for recalling previous commands in BASH.
Is this feature not supported ?

when i type "who" i get the message
"/var/tmp/utmp: No such file or directory"

When I try to set the environment variable CYGWIN either in BASH
using the export mechanism or using WordPad to edit the cygnus.bat file. I
get
the message Syntax Error when I run bash. I am using the setting mentioned
in the Cygwin user's guide Chapter 2. under Environment Variables
"set CYGWIN=tty notitle strace=0x1

Is there any way to compile Fortran code using compiler gcc ? I tried doing
this
using option -f77 but this does not work.

I attach the file produced by the cygcheck program

Best regards

Ashish Patel
