Thanks Tim, for your suggestion. However I able to overcome 
the problem of make error

It configured the source directory scr using the script

configure --host=i586-pc-cygwin32 --target=mips-mips-elf

and then ran make.

But when I wrote some simple loop in MIPS assembly code and 
tried as-new.exe generated by make, it is giving an error like

as-new: bfd assertion fail ecofflink.o: 1600

similarly at line no.s 1601-1603, 1605

Does anybody have some idea what is going on?
