In order to put this in the archive and to educate the ignorant as I
used to be, the circumflex "^" (SHIFT of 6 on US Keyboard) can be used
to quote any character similar to the backslash "\" in UNIX.
Example:
bash$: grep some_variable \| some_other_variable *.c
would translate to
DOS$: grep some_variable ^| some_other_variable *.c
==
- \\||//
---o0O0--Earnie--0O0o----
--earnie_boyd AT yahoo DOT com--
------ooo0O--O0ooo-------
