The environment variable HOME must be set to point to the location of 
..bashrc.  If you "bash --login" and you have a /etc/profile file then 
bash will execute that; you will need to "source ~/.bashrc" from within 
the /etc/profile file.  If you "bash --rcfile MYBASHRC" then bash will 
execute the file specified by the --rcfile switch.  For more information 
do "bash --help".
