I had built XEmacs using b18. 
I uninstalled b18.
I downloaded and installed b19.

Now consistently, but at different stages of the build process the
machine freezes.  

I have copied the new version of bash to /bin/sh.exe and /bin/bash.exe

If anyone has any ideas thanks so much in advance.
