What worked for me is....
First be sure your Linux kernel has support for the smb filesystem compiled
in. Then get the smbfs package. I found it at
http://www.sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/remotefs/smbfs/smbfs-2.0.2.tgz
.. The package contains a program called smbmount. This lets you mount a
network share from win95/wfw/nt on your Linux box. Once you have the share
mounted you can use tar to back it up..
