fdsnum.diff 
Number of open file descriptors is virtually unlimited now. The limit depends of underlying OS and available memory. 
Stdin/stdout/stderr are opened now in binary, but not text mode if not connected to a console. 
cat somefile.tar.gz | tar tvfz - 
 
now works.
