I am frequently getting the message:

cygwin: Cygwin32: Catastrophic fail - unable to Create pinfo_mutex              

when spawning shells (for autoconfiguration, make builds, etc.).
Does anyone know what this is symptomatic of?  Does anyone know
a way to fix it?
