It makes sense, you need minimum TCP/IP support, you must have the compact installation which has no network support. Try installing the "Dialup Network"
component of Windows 95 (this is what I have installed). The steps are something
like this:
Click on "My Conmputer"
Click on "Control Panel"
Click on "Add/Remove Programs"
Click on "Windows Setup"
Click on "Communications"
Click on "Dialup network"
Click on OK's along the way and have your Win95 CDOM/diskettes ready.
