Hey, Azores! Your are the first from there...

It seems you are using W95, with TCP/IP and DNS working.
Our NT4.0 is more verbose:
bash$ hostname xxx
sethostname: Use the Network Control Panel Applet to set hostname.
hostname -s is not supported.


Match Control Panel/Network/Identification/Computername with TCP/IP settings!
hostname and uname -a are okay here (the latter uppercased).
