Hi,

shouldn't the cygwin.dll name include a version
number in future versions?

I don't know if older cygwin.dll's can be used
with newer executables created by GNU-WIN32 or
vice versa, but from my experience with such
things, I would strongly recommend that.

The include and library file names would stay
the same, but refer to a specific cygwin??.dll.
This could prevent some problems for programs
built by GNU-WIN32 when distributed as binaries.

As you may know, other libraries already use
that mechanism (e.g. vbrun300, mfc40, ...).

Any opinions?

-ulrich.
