With GNU tar 1.11.8 and gzip 1.2.4 (18 Aug 93), as bundled in b17.1, on Win95, I get a corrupt tar
archive from the following command:

 tar --gzip cvf foo.tar.gz foo.txt

where foo.txt is a 9MB text file. Doing a separate tar then gzip works fine. Tar tvf on the
original file says it is corrupt, as does Winzip 6.2 which also understands tar.gz files, so it is
definitely on the gzip and tar create side not the gunzip and tar unpack side.

I don't get this error on much smaller files, and unpacking large tar.gz files works OK (in fact,
better than Winzip).
