However, it is not the best tool for that job. I used gschem for years to make mechanical drawings. But then I got to the point where it would not do what I wanted and I looked into and tested several other tools to do plain 2D drawings. I decided that QCAD was the best for me and I have been using it ever since for non-schematic drawings. I even developed a process to convert PCB print outputs to DXF to import to QCAD and create board assembly drawings. I continue to use gschem for schematics, where it is the correct tool for the job.
