Thanks for the explanation. Yes, I did copy this symbol from the gEDA library without renaming it. So it is in my local library and the gEDA distribution library as the same name. I renamed my copy and replaced the old named symbols with the new named symbol in the schematic, saved and reloaded the schematic and the messages are gone! So that was the problem. Now, thanks to your explanation, I know how this message is generated and I will make note of it for the future. I agree that this could cause instability by not knowing which symbol is used. Maybe clearing up the message is in order if there is opposition to making it an error. Thanks again. Girvin
