Teh uarts are built in and the IOs, and maybe even the DAC. Here's the data sheet: http://www.ti.com/product/am3358#inventory No DAC, just 3 PWMs that could do some DAC function with help. Has a 12 bit SAR A2D. AM3358_ZCZ is the 15mmx15mm BGA chip. It has same footprint and functions drop in same as AM3359_ZCZ, which is sampling now. The AM3358_ZCZ is not out of the fab yet. I'll find out more about the samples available from TI during this week. A linux board would probably be overkill > for this, but then, you get the ip-stack for free. > > What do you need? My minimal need is one serial and one ethernet. Later I'll be wanting to use LCD driver outputs, A2D, DAC for power controls. The KiCAD collaborators want 1000/100/10 ethernet, so that is a difference, and then, I have already found no element generator can make a BGA footprint pad/via dogbone shape, and it will need hours of drafting in KiCAD. The BGA ball grid spacing is .8mm -- is that big enough to "do at home"? I'm planning to hire that soldering fab step myself...
