I have a bit of a bone to pick with the new user interface. The new panels on the bottom and on the right are wholly unnecessary. For the majority of the time they eat up screen space and are distracting, and to me personally very annoying. These are the things that are there - always : 1. Status, which until now I've only looked at once every 15-20 times I open gschem, and usually just closed the window. 2. Find text - does this really have to always be there and visible? A find tool is useful for some, I'm sure. Personally never really used it. Certainly not enough for it to be a permanent user of the entire bottom fourth of my screen. 3. Object - Usually the whole panel is disabled. Most of the controls on it don't apply to most things one typically uses on gEDA. 4. Text - Really? 5. Options - The menus and keybindings are plenty. Can I please have my screen edges back? I'm not saying remove them entirely. Obviously someone cares about them enough to have put in a whole lot of effort to make them front and center, but can we please atleast have them as something that can be suppressed in some kind of preferences or so? I've been trying to find such an option, but have not have any success so far. The best solution I've found so far is to drag the border out to the edge, but this doesn't survive exit and makes the tool unavailable entirely (text edit no longer works on double click). Thanks Regards -- Chintalagiri Shashank
