I did install it with Sourceforge and it = installed a number of sub-directories as C:\Program Files = (x86)\PCB-4.2.0.=C2=A0 If you want more details, let me know what you = want and how to recover it.

I have tried uninstalling it and = re-installing in another directory, but that was the = same.

I have just noticed a compatibity = troubleshooter in the =E2=80=98properties=E2=80=99 page.=C2=A0 I have = run this and it suggested trying to run in windows 8 compatibility mode, = but that seems to have made no difference.

It may be of interest to note that it does = not appear to display the grid either.

If it helps, the message log in pcb has the = following information:

Note:=C2=A0 home directory is = "C:\Users\Brian"

Using default menus

Can't open file

=C2=A0=C2=A0 = 'PCB.00009740.save'

fopen() returned: 'Permission = denied'

What permission is being denied?=C2=A0 I = have not seen a file pcb.00009740.save, but I do not know where I should = be looking for it either.

I do not know how I have got into the = situation where I have a home directory set, and I do not know how to = change it (or what to).

My son got me to try some other pcb layout = programs, none of which I found logical (or easy to = use).

That's odd, I haven't heard of such an issue before. =

How did you install pcb? Did you use the installer on = Sourceforge, or did you build it from source? Also, which version of pcb = are you working with?
