Nope, they don't.  AUC-TeX's code is pretty yucky in particular.  I
tried getting it to work with emTeX once with no success.  However,
the new version seems to be cleaner in that respect, and I'm probably
going to try again within the next three weeks.  I'll post if I'm
successful.
