I recently tried to install gcc 2.2.2 on my home computer and I am having a little bit of difficulty, which no amount of careful thought or fiddling has worked. I am installing the contents of the files djgcc222.zip, djdev138.zip, djgas108.zip on my 386-40 with a 387 as the faq says I should have to get things running. I have set all the environment variables and done everything that the readme that came with the zip files said I should do to install djgpp. Here is the problem: I can compile and run programs that have simple text output and do simple math functions (+-*/), BUT when I try something like sin() or sqrt(), I get an error telling me that there is an "undefined symbol _sin" or the like. I imagine that something is not being found by the compiler and the rest. Yes, I am familiar with the C language and gcc on a unix system, but I have never installed my own compiler. I have eliminated all the stupid things (like not having the #include ), so I am pretty sure that my installation must be wrong. As I said, I simply unzipped the files onto my hard disk and set the environment variables as the readme said. Any help would be very much appreciated. I need a c compiler on my personal computer, and I would really prefer gcc. Thanks in advance! Clay Smith csmith AT titan DOT nmt DOT edu
