I don't know about f2c, but I had a terrible time with DEmacs because I was using PKUnZip 1.02 on files that had been compressed with PKZip 1.10. (This was a PKWare bug; the -t option told me that v1.0 was enough). This (or similar) *could* be your problem ... but noone can tell unless everybody gives full info. (The archivists at WUARCHIVE.WUSTL.EDU and SIMTEL20.WSMR.MIL say that the most common problems with bad downloads are (1) downloading binary files in text mode and (2) wrong software versions. These sound a lot like your "NULL pointer violations" to me.) -- Stephen Turnbull The Ohio State University Department of Economics 1945 North High Street, Room 410 Columbus, Ohio 43210-1172 phone: (614) 292-0654 fax: (614) 292-3906 email: turnbull AT ecolan DOT sbs DOT ohio-state DOT edu
