The reason as I later found out was that I was using a 13GB UDMA hard disk without a cooling fan. Todays HDD's get so hot that they need a additional fan otherwise they start giving errors when the disks are acessed continously for some time and when the HDD controler chips get very hot. So if you think your system is unstable you might check and see whether the power supply is adequate for the motherboard and cpu and also whether the cooling system is adequate (ie no blocked vents tec) Hope this helps, Kalum
