binutils and gcc share the same source tree so they use normally
the same sources for common programs which is here the case
for cxxfilt. Since gcc 2.8.0 is newer, the cxxfilt is newer too.

I don't which is better, but after looking in the gcc Changelog
I found no important changes since the version from binutils 2.8.1.
